It’s that time of the week again when I curse at my alarm clock for waking me up from another weekend that has gone by too quickly. As I sit in Pret, sipping on my much-needed coffee, I scroll through the Medium app, bookmarking stories I want to read later on when I’m out of my slumber state. However, one story sticks out. It’s a story of a woman who would rush around so much that she lost track of the days. She then decided to take a moment in the morning to reflect by iterating two words first thing when she wakes up: “Thank you”. I’m sitting here, thinking to myself, this is so simple, so brilliant, and yet, so easily overlooked. I should be thankful everyday for just waking up, being healthy, and having so much in my life that brings me happiness. So I am going to try to practice this and make it a new habit to say thank you to the new day ahead.
