Holy crap you guys! If you can believe it, I started this post series one year ago! Honestly, it’s super crazy for me to think how many books I’ve read and recommended over the past twelve months. And trust me, the amount of messages I’ve gotten about reading recommendations have only increased since writing all of this! So enough blabbing from me, let’s check out this month’s reading recommendations.
Circe by Madeline Miller
My increasing obsession with Greek mythology has only gotten strong because of this novel. Follow the life of Circe, who is born to Helios, the Titan god and personification of the Sun. As Circe grows, she learns how powerful she really is, which leads her to being sentenced to living on an island all alone. Or at least that’s what Zeus and the other gods agreed on. Once she’s set free from the gods, Circe grows her powers and has plenty of adventures. Even Odysseus makes an appearance. I usually don’t read mythological novels, but this one makes me think I should give them a chance.
Hello, Sunshine by Laura Dave
Sunshine Mackenzie has it all; the perfect husband, career as a YouTube chef sensation, and she’s finally getting the Food Network show she’s always dreamed of. Too bad someone decides to hack her Twitter account and show the world who she really is. To get away from the scandal, Sunshine goes back to her roots to really reconnect with who she is. I can tell you I bought this book on a whim in the airport and I ended up finishing it the same day in my beach chair. It’s extremely understandable as to why it was voted one of the best Summer reads of 2017.
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
If I could fall in love with a book, it would be The Kissing Quotient. Meet Stella, an extremely bright math whiz who is practically perfect in every way, except when it comes to love. She’s never had great experiences with dating and sex (mostly sex) so she decides that the best way to perfect it is by hiring an escort to teach her how to pleasure her future partner. This is how she meets Michael, who didn’t plan on being an escort, or seeing Stella again due to his ”no more than one time’ rule with clients. But neither of them can deny the sparks. Can they get past the secrets they’re hiding from each other? Could they actually take this from business to love? You really, really, REALLY need to read this one to find out!
